About Us
Based out of the Donald Richards Pool in Cape Elizabeth & the South Portland Community Center, Bluefish is a a year-round, competitive swimming team offering instruction, training, and competition to young people of all ages and abilities. We are a registered & insured USA Swimming club program, open to all swimmers in the Southern Maine area, and beyond.
Bluefish also has branches in Springfield, MA and Attleboro, MA however when we compete, we compete as one unified team!
Bluefish Swim Club views swimming as an important part of the overall development of of our athletes. Besides the most obvious benefit of physical conditioning, swimming fosters discipline, commitment, passion, social opportunities, the values gained from competition, and the character that comes from learning to accept winning and losing with grace.
Coaching Staff
Led by Head Coach/Owner, Marcel Da Ponte, an ASCA Level 4 coach and the 2020/21 & 2021/22 Maine Swimming Coach of the year, the Bluefish staff consists of professionally trained & certified coaches. As members of the American Swimming Coaches Association(ASCA), we have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the world. Additionally, our coaches are certified by our governing body, USA Swimming Inc., and they possess training and experience in the physiology and psychology of adolescent development. Therefore, our coaches can insure that the time your children spend in the sport of swimming, will be quality time!
