Vision:
To fulfill their mission and best serve their athletes, Bluefish Swim Club relies on the voluntary contributions of the time and talents of parents. Without their help, team operations and events would not be financially practical. Under the guidance of the coaching staff, the Bluefish Parents’ Committee is a vital part of that support.
Responsibilities:
-
Providing feedback and parent perspective to the coaching staff
-
Supporting and encouraging parent involvement in Bluefish activities
-
Plan and execute social activities for Bluefish swimmers, parents, and families
-
Assist coaching staff with publicity
-
Lead fundraising activities and coordinate them with other Bluefish sites
-
Coordinate swimmer equipment orders
Membership:
The coaching staff will select 6 to 8 parents to serve terms of two years. Members may be reappointed for a second term. After two terms, members must take a break of at least one year before reappointment. Every effort will be made to represent all levels of the team. Continued membership is at the discretion of the head coach. Those interested in serving should contact a member of the coaching staff.
Meeting Schedule:
The head coach will schedule a meeting of the whole committee in person or electronically at various times throughout the year. Other meetings of the whole and subcommittees will meet when needed as determined by the coaching staff.
On the swim clubs with the best team culture, communication between coaches and parents is direct. The Committee is not intended to be a conduit for policies and procedures or complaints. Bluefish Parent Committee members should refer parents with questions or concerns directly to members of the coaching staff. In addition, the head coach has discretion in all matters.
